From today's news:

"The Prime Minster reportedly wants the McLaren driver to lead a road accident campaign aimed at teenage drivers, as well as helping to promote sport to the young."

What would you ask Lewis to do to promote safer driving?

Avoid red cars like the plague, they cause no end of bother.

laugh

Don't forget to avoid being overtaken by Toyotas in the wet...

Seriously though, how about promoting advanced driver training? Not many young drivers relate to Nigel Mansell and his presidency of the IAM.

I'd prefer it if someone like the IAM or ROSPA approached Hamilton - not Gordon Brown peddling some government stuff. I an see the irony, Lewis in half the advert breaks of TV saying "Speed Kills".

Makes no less sense than many of Gordy's initiatives, but do we really want to promote road accidents to teenage drivers?

I don't know anything about the Mercedes crash, but his speeding offence could actually be a plus point if he's to relate to young enthusiastic drivers. They won't pay any attention to anti-speeding stuffed shirts, and I don't blame them.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

That Mr Hamilton snr crashed a Porsche doesn't preclude his prodigy progeny from having binned a Mercedes. In fact, I'd be more surprise if he hadn't.

The Telegraph looks like being more accurate than a number of other papers - I am certain that I read in more than one that the accident happened in a Merc SLR. Maybe he should have been in a Merc SLR which apparently has a much more protective ESC system!

Continuing on my earlier theme, that Mr Hamilton Snr crashed a Porsche doens't preclude him from having also binned a Mercedes...

If he did both I can imagine people might become a little wary of lending him supercars!

Wouldn't a decent sized prang with one such car be sufficient to shake one's confidence a bit? yikes

Best wishes all,
Dave - always slow and cautious with his 90 bhp. smile

Sorry, it was on my internet home page that day, I cannot find the story now. No doubt it will resurface shortly.
