I'm looking at joining an IAM group south of London. I'm based in Wimbledon so are looking at SLAM and Guildford as options.

The roads around Guildford would probably be more similar to the roads I drive regularly (Cotswolds etc), but the website, while more professional, looks less 'fun'.

Does anyone have any experience of these groups or can recommend either?

Thanks for the assitance!

I had experience of SLAM 3 years ago and it wouldn't lead me to recommend them. They had pretty a pretty restricted set of sunday morning sessions (which is not their fault if that's all they can do). They were also not very good at the whole observed driving thing! I went with Miss Bert who at 17 got fed up very quickly with their utter condescention. I got fed up with being told for 3 consecutive sessions I was "nearly ready" without any real further comment on what to do to improve. Finally, through a family communications cockup, I failed to let them know I couldnt make a booked session. Yep all my fault, but when they then cancelled my next session without telling me, I lost it really.

That was 3 years ago mind you.

Guildford Group is pretty good, high success rate.
Used to be an observer there before I moved, my Dads a senior there.
