I'd like to see him do that in something 2WD and not stuffed full of computers.
I shouldn't have thought 4wd made this sort of thing any easier. Does it?Best wishes all,
Dave.
I’ve seen learner drivers show more skill than that…
Not once did he check his mirrors, his steering was all over the place and he spent more time sideways than he did driving in a straight line. I’m sure there must have been an easier and safer way to get round that course…
Absolute loony…

There were some short sections where he showed precise control but most of the time whilst it was spectacular it didn't matter too much whether the car was positioned there or 20 feet to either side, or indeed whether the turn in point was accurate.
Dick Squire could have run rings round him.

As I type this I just heard one of the local Imprezas blasting up 100m up towards his street like a tt, anyway, the car control is impressive but I'd like to see him try to race or rally.
What he was doing was what most pro rally drivers could do off camera. He was just showing off.

Actually he does do a lot of rallying, not a top level driver but is working his way towards PWRC iirc.
He came down here for an NZRC round and finished in the top ten, wasn't on the pace of the quicker NZRC drivers but very spectacular to watch on the stages.

A prime example of recovery by power-on AWD traction:

Hi All.I wouldn't dispute that it is very accurate car control but I don't see that the recovery was due to AWD traction or that the technique used was the quickest way around the corner. To me it seems that the car had slowed down so much that any form of drive would take it round. Might be that he's just showboating for the camera.

Not sure on that but you may be right - agreed that he does scrub off a lot of speed on the entry but the wheels start spinning forwards before the apex when he's already pointing in the direction of the exit.
I found when I first got the MX5 (comparing on gravel with a 155bhp NA Legacy at the time) that if I put it into situation of being well sideways pointing in the exit direction, the Legacy would pull itself out straight ahead once you got on the power, whereas the MX5 would spin the wheels and just keep drifting out wide as it couldn't get enough drive to accelerate out.
Obviously the key problem was trying to use a 4WD driving technique in a RWD car but I hope I've explained the effect.

All good but...this is THE classic!
Tons of skill!
Balls of steel!
A monster of a car!
and a lot to lose if you get it wrong!
I am sure most have seen it but I find a little reminder now and then is good for you

He smokes the tyres at every opportunity which means they will have got far too hot and not generate anywhere as much grip as warm tyres. Makes it then very easy to slide a 530Whp 4WD car about to 'Show off.' He didn't really seem to care about doing anything technically correct and just drifted about as much as possible. But then drifting about in a 4WD car with that power isn’t that good a test of true car control on the limit.
at the turning circle he is just letting it drift out to the outside edge with no attempt at all to fix it and at 2.22 just lets the rear bumper smash into stuff on the outside and carries on! and I guess if they were filming, that was the best one he did! no wonder they needed four sets of tyres!
I’m only jealous because I can’t afford to play around like that though!
