I've sussed it. No matter how badly someone else is driving I've found the perfect way to stop the old red mist rising.

I was following a learner having a particularly hard time of it recently and I was starting to get more than a little irked For whatever reason I suddenly thought "what if it was my daughter learning to drive" and hey presto, my blood pressure instantly went down.

Since then I've applied that thought process to other drivers in general and I've found I'm always completely relaxed and not bothered by their actions however stupid.

Try it, it really works biggrin

Probably best if you insert your own loved one though!

I realised that basically the only person who was losing anything by me getting mad, was me. other people didn't care.

Sometimes you just can't help it, if something happens suddenly, and shocks you a bit, but seeing other road users generally acting like toe rags I just try to leave them to it.

It doesn't hurt to stay behind some slowcoach, doing 40 in a 40, or similar stupidiness, as almost every time you do push an overtake you find the aforementioned toe rag will be right behind you at the next junction or lights.

I've tried the 'imagine it's someone from your family' method and it works! I keep having to remind myself, but I'm learning to be more patient (Unlike the fool in the BMW X5 who followed me along the main road today, uncomfortably close but not opting to overtake on long stretches of road).

Regards,
Peter
