.... a new lesson learnt today:

Fire engine came down through the lights I was waiting to turn right at. I made very sure nothing was following him before going across the junction nicely on my way. Then had to slam the brakes on a bit 50 metres down that road as there was an ambulance coming that way towards me. I'd kinda switched off again after seeing the junction clear and turning off the fire engine's path.

So, if you see one emergency vehicle coming, look out for more from any direction....

I see it a lot (driving one of them), we're on our way to an emergency in town 1, then another ambulance (also on blues) comes from a sidestreet and is on his way to town 2, so we follow each other for a while (following a big long road here leading to several different towns), then on a junction or roundabout ambulance 1 goes left, and then traffic waiting at the next exit drives onto the roundabout assuming ambulance 2 will follow ambulance 1, though that one is on its way to something else and needs to go straighton/right, causes them the panick.

We're used to it so we watch out for it, but it does give some people a scare when that vehicle doesn't do what they were assuming it would.
