I think I've now seen it all. Sitting in a queue for the lights in Court road/A20 Mottingham today there was Mr Can't-do-Wrong Range Rover driver in front of me, as we pull away he has a video camera in his right hand and is pointing it out of the drivers window maybe filming the car in front.
If this is the standard and example you set in the IAM then thank fk I left years ago.

My car has an IAM sticker on the rear window...if I sell the car, I might just forget to remove the sticker.

You state that you have left the IAM...which means that you were once a member?

Were you ever advised to behave like the pr1ck you describe?

Sorry Pal, I resent your connection between IAM and Muppets, and will not generalise on the mentality, or thought processes of Land Rover drivers having a go at Range Rover drivers.

BOF.

Generalising can sometimes be unfair, but I expect even IAM members can demonstrate a bit of muppetry occasionally, so it's no use getting het up trying to suggest it never happens. In any case it might not have been Mr IAM doing the driving at the time. smile

Best wishes all,
Dave.

You mean Mr Non-IAM driving Mrs IAM's car?

There's a lot of Mrs IAMs as Mr Non-IAM thinks he's God's gift to driving without having to take another test!

Me, I left the IAM not because of Muppetry exhibited by those displaying an IAM badge but by those in vehicles displaying Constabulary badges.
To say I felt let down is a gross understatement.

Bitter they can't afford one.

I suppose the responses on here are to be expected, how many of you are fully paid up card waving members of the IAM? You all try and shoot me down for generalising because he had a badge in the back of his car and that you think I am sgging off a Range Rover driver, I was having a go at an IAM driver, the car he was in is probably irrelevant.
Not one of you pick up on the fact the man had limited control and was behaving as badly as maybe the car driver he was videoing had been.

Well I'm not in the IAM, but how do you know he was in the IAM ?
(You might for all I know but you haven't said how you know that.)

Von, like I said he had an IAM badge on his car, is it possible that some people would drive around with an IAM badge and not be a member?

Of course it is, just like cars have AA or RAC badges on the vehicle when they aren't members. Someone, sometime driving the car is likely to have been a member but it's a big jump to automatically assume that the driver in question definitely is.

Fair enough, I will admit I must be mistaken and that makes his behaviour alright.

And given car sported both an IAM sticker and an over enthusiastic cine enthusiast on board,
yep I'd say it was worth a tenner bet they were linked wouldn't you!

and yes they are truly smug, the bunch of tossers

I don't agree with the second bit of your statement there either.

Could it be the tell tale hi-vis jacket-on-parcel-shelf of this decade.

Certainly its the fact the membership needs advertising for mere mortals to appreciate the driving gods we share the road with.

Odd the fact it needs pointing out with a sticker, that seems somewhat at odds with the fact their driving alone isn't proof enough, and if its not being driven by the IAM
should the sticker be on the vehicle at all

I'm rather more interested in how people behave, especially when they're in proximity to others that might be affected, rather than the vehicles they drive or the badges they dsplay - legitimately or not.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

No.
You even get a plastic cover to put over the metal grill badge if the driver is not IAM.

And there's a special secret identifying sign we make to communicate with other IAM members.

(I made the last bit up, but you do get a white plastic cover!)

Reckon I already know 'the sign'

Hmm. He might have been IAM, and might have been driving like a knob, but I guess we'll never know for sure. The only thing we can know for sure is about the chap behind.

Indulge me if you will, what do we know of the chap behind.
He's no video evidence to back up his story, few of us outside 'better driving please' bother to carry recording equipment on us.

Its a credit to our betters they can both hold a badge, and double as driver/cameramen should the need to record bad behaviour arise,
Incredible really.
