I'm looking to partake in a course that will help me to understand how to drive a fast and powerful car without scaring myself or worse. I was never too bothered about the Countach because unless you mashed the throttle in first or in higher gears if it was damp, it was pretty forgiving and didn't have a habit of biting. I'm not so sure the same can be said of the Diablo, and think I would probably benefit for a bit of extra training.

Can anyone recommend such a course, preferably somewhere in the Southeast?

Hi
You said South East, this chap is in Southampton.

Peter Garvey - 023 80768777

He is a retired head of a police driving school, has literally every qualification there is, and is quite simply one of the very best around. He does all sorts of work with people from Pro-drive, Drive-Alive, performance courses for prestige car manufacturers.

He taught me to drive as a learner (some years ago) and his driving skills and knowledge are quite frankly humbling. I believe he charges around £25ph. A few hours with him in the Diablo will be the best money you have ever spent.

Trust me, I'm a policeman!

I've been known to give the odd days instruction here and there. I don't charge, as I'm not an ADI, but a run out in something interesting usually suffices.

PM sent.

Well, I would have sent a PM if it was working, but it seems it's not.

Doh.

I thought the 'no charging unless you are an ADI' law only applied to driving instruction to test level. I thought anybody could present themselves as an advanced instructor.

No - any on-road instruction for payment at whatever level has to be by an ADI. I have an exemption for instructing on Police courses, but I can't charge for instruction away from the job.
