Advice requested - new car and test on the 6th
Discussion
Hi.
I have my IAM test on Saturday, and I have just changed my car (great timing, i know... but I got a good deal) and I just thought I would see if people on here could answer a couple of things for me...
So, I have done all my observed runs in a Citroen C2 VTS, which is a hot(ish) but fairly basic supermini. On the 22nd Dec I got a BMW 325i touring... which has loads of electronic toys - including PDC (park distance control) and cruise control.
So question 1 is... when doing my IAM test, should I try to shut off the PDC beepers/display screen whenever doing maneuvers? Or is it okay to use these electronic aids? It automatically switches it on every time you put it in reverse, so I want to know if i should use it or not.
Question 2 is about the cruise control... i assume that using this is a big NO in IAM tests? Any comments? Or just NO. It's brilliant for keeping you locked to 30 or 40 mph on quiet roads, but i imagine it's seen as a loss of control or something by examiners?
Any help appreciated. I was tempted to re-arrange the test to give me more time to get used to the new beast, but it doesn't seem worth it.
