Following Yugguy's thread in the Pie and Piston, thought I'd post my own rant/complaint e-mail. Since it concerns less than advanced driving, I thought I'd post here.

complaint e-mail to well known catalogue shop said:

Complaint regarding the driving standard/attitude of ***** liveried truck.
Truck Reg: **** ***
Time: approximately 0715, 27/07/06
Place: A595 southbound, between Whitehaven & Egremont

The truck in question displayed aggressive, inconsiderate and potentially dangerous (either by ineptitude or purposefully - can't quite decide which would be worse) driving over the period it was behind me this morning.
On a 40mph section of the road, said truck was overtaken by an Alfa Romeo GTV, an action which seemed to trigger the "dodgy" driving. The truck tried to speed up, therefore closing the gap between him and me, in an attempt to prevent the Alfa from overtaking; this is contrary to the highway code, inconsiderate at best, and dangerous at worst. The Alfa successfully passed and proceeded to pass me, at which point the delivery van closed to within half a car's length from my rear, where it sat until the Hensingham roundabout. I don't particularly appreciate tailgating at speeds of 40 to 50mph.
Following the exit from the roundabout, the truck driver displayed yet more dangerous driving when it accellerated (deliberately in my opinion) and positioned itself as far to the centre of the road as possible (again, appeared deliberate) to prevent being overtaken by two motorcycles - this left the bikes exposed on the opposite carriageway facing oncoming traffic, as such placing them in unneccessary danger. The bikes (sensibly) aborted their overtakes. To place other road users in such a dangerous situation as a deliberate act is contemptable. If, on the other hand, the truck driver simply hadn't seen the bikes and was unaware of their presence/intentions, then that wouldn't speak very highly of the driver's aptidude or suitability to be driving for a living: one would expect better standards, surely? The truck again took up station unnacceptably close to my rear bumper.
The road then changes from a 40mph limit to an NSL (60), allowing me to accelerate away. A set of traffic lights on red allowed the bikes to pass, and since the bikes and Alfa were then ahead and quickly disappearing into the distance, the truck's driving became more "sedate". Through Bigrigg (back to 40 limit) the truck was further behind me (perhaps because I'd used the full limit in the 60 zone to pull away, or maybe because the red mist was no longer there from the Alfa and bike overtakes?). However on the exit of Bigrigg, the truck overtook a bicycle at a time when it would have been more appropriate to hold station behind and wait for a safer opportunity - his actions and encroaching onto the opposite carriageway neccessitated oncoming traffic to brake and tuck into the verge on their side of the road.
From my turning into Egremont, and the truck proceeding on the A595, I can only presume he was bound for your Barrow in Furness store.

The standard of driving of liveried trucks reflects directly on your company; such aggression and poor standard displayed by your truck left a lot to be desired.

Yes, I know all the vehicles overtaking the truck were speeding (I tucked over for the Alfa to aid his overtake and let him know I wasn't going to be a tw@, and generally because I try to be a courteous and considerate driver - also, I'd prefer a dodgy driver or one "making progress" to be infront, rather than behind me), but to deliberately hinder other vehicle and place them in dangerous situations is taking the p*ss far more than breaking the speed limit on a 40 section of road that should in all honesty be an NSL.
