was in moving traffic at tthe weekend

motorbike couple of cars back

wait to overtake cyclist

signal and give plenty of room past and to the left to allow the mtorbike to get past me little time later sure enough motor bike comes past with extra safty margin i have given him

no problem

then all the break lights come on and we are in a snarl up

i now have the cyclist gesturing for me to come past on the inside despite the fact i am signaling left for the next junction

you cant win you wait and give them plenty of room

Agreed - give cyclists (and motorbikes) plenty of room. They don't have a protective cage

Cyclists dont have rear view mirrors they can just hear you behind them and are probably thinking you could be some dosy old codger who is scared of over taking and so is gesturing for you to come past.
When on my bike I wave drivers through when its safe to do so all the time and most of the time they wave back in appreciation. Proves that there doesnt have to be any antagonism between the two.

(My bold)

So, did you deliberately impeed the progress of a fellow road user, or were you so close to the junction that it would have been unsafe?

It does seem like the sensible thing for the cyclist to do would have been to overtake you...but then you'd have thought he wass a nutter, weaving in and out.

Motorists - as a cyclist you just can't do right by them!

I'm being picky, but everyone seems to pick up on "cyclist did this, cyclist did that", when what really is the issue is there's SOD ALL consideration for other road users being shown by so many people on the highways...regardless of their mode of transport.

I agree. That is the problem in most cases, we are always right while at the same time being nearly always wrong. I have days when I'm the most impatient agressive driver on Gods clean Earth. Other days I'm chilled out and courteous. Irrespective of wether I'm on Bike or in Car. We are all just Human, not Machines.
