No, because:

1. I haven't been invited.
2. I'm a bit too old.
3. It's my son's birthday - he'll be 42, poor lad!

Best wishes all,
Dave.

No, because:

1. I haven't been invited.
2. I'm a bit too old.
3. I am still younger that your son ( just )
4. Having read "A Short History of Byzantium" by John Julius Norwich, I will be busy reading the full version to make sure I have not missed anything

Yes, because:

1. I have been invited.
2. Even though I'm a bit too old.
3. Someone said I could give a lecture on vehicle handling

I'll be there in the challengingly coloured MX-5

Like you need inviting! What you really mean is that someone said there would be a captive audience...

Excellent. I'll bring my spare sharpened pencils. Anything to get out of the practical bit...

Remember to ask me about yesterday's moment.

What - the fact I'm giving a talk or the presentation itself? I may well post the presentation matter publicly either on the HPC forum or the Cadence site after the event. I'll be doing the same with the Masterclass one on the HPC site after the weekend.

What's with the ageism on these HPC days, or is it tacit acceptance that anyone over 26 clearly has nothing to learn?

No Dan, I think it's more the hope that the youngsters will swallow everything hook line and sinker, and nothing will get questioned or challenged in any way. Makes for an easy, though less interesting, time. HTH.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Oi, you two...

This is the first such day we've run (although we used to run an award for the IAM a few years ago), so it's day rather than days It was spurred in part by a number of members having young friends and close relatives injured (in at least one case terminally) in RTAs (my background means I've seen far too many such things). The aim is to try and inspire some young drivers by a mixture of demonstration drives, some talks on aspects of driving, vehicle handling and circuit racing, into improving their driving rather than pushing 'advanced driving' per se.

If you're a little older than that group (or in TripleS's case, a smidgin older ), then I'm running something on the 8th of July - if you look at www.advanced-driving.co.uk , you'll see details.

Quite true, but the 'something' on 8 July doesn't sound to be suitable for those of a nervous disposition. The dynamic duo (Von plus the Stressed one) have been making ominous references to a couple of dangerous bends for the participants to try out and it all sounds a bit hairy for my liking.

[CJ mode]I didn't get where I am today by fannying about in the hedge bottom! [/CJ mode]

Best wishes all,
Dave.

I said I was going - now I may not be, as I have an opportunity to get paid to go to Hong Kong for a few weeks (assuming I get visa etc). Although I love driving, I'm not passing over a chance like that (if it comes to fruition).
