Commentary videos
Discussion
Anybody know of any good videos/DVDs/downloadable video files of experts giving a commentary drive/ride? - ideally one where it is possible to identify the roads being used so I can compare the commentary with my own observations on the road and thereby show up what I'm missing better.
There's a DVLA video which includes a short clip of a police rider giving commentary along a piece of road I know well (Ampthill Road in Bedford). It only lasts a minute or so but it is quite an eye-opener for me.

Have you seen the Roadcraft video?
Not exactly what you are looking for, but worth a look.
BOF.
At the risk of blatent advertising (sorry Ted in advance and if you feel this is too much, please don't hesitate to delete the post), the boss has done one on DVD which we're just finishing off. There is a 1 minute sample at www.cadence.co.uk/media/demo.avi It's encoded using DivX v6, so you might need to download that from www.divx.com
BOF: Have just ordered it. There doesn't seem to be a bike one though?
StressedDave: That is excellent, though the car noise makes it a little hard to hear what he's saying at some points. (And it works just fine with Linux ) Would definitely be interested in the finished DVD.
Thanks!

I want to see how he would commentate on Ladbroke Grove (now my commute)
("And another person stepping out between parked cars and another, and 17 buses doing 'stuff'. Man with knife in middle of road, howling at moon, let's give him space..."
Love the Playstation speed / g-g diagrams in the bottom RHC ... and the hairlines bobbing up and down in the mirrors!

One of the instructors for www.rospasmart.com fitted a camera to his bike and videoed his rush hour commute through central London. He shows the video, warts and all, at ride school, so that everyone can dissect it.

Is this out yet? I've just had a look round the Cadence site and I can't find any mention of it.
www.cadence.co.uk/comment.html - it is the first line on the website! It's been out for a month or so, but there's no online ordering so it's a telephone or letter job. We've also started work on ones for motorway/dual carriageway and night driving.

This is a good one for bike riding www.ekam.org.uk/video.htm
A street a track an open road presented by Suzi Perry is one of the most entertaining and informative motorcycle instructional DVDs I think you will find .
Picked mine up at the NEC Motorcycle show last year for next to nothing, £2 I think.
Visit this site for more details and a few short clips. www.stordvd.com
This DVD also gives the a great insight into the hazards bikers negotiate on a daily basis for the car drivers amongst us.
