Question about using left hand lane going straight on
Discussion
I just wanted peoples opinion on something has happened to me today.
I was hit by a car here;
53°28'14.6"N 2°51'02.7"
I was in the left hand lane approaching from Coopers Ln and heading upto Perimeter Rd on the roundabout, I stayed left and kept in this lane because the road markings indicated straight on OR left, but I was hit in the rear drivers side door by someone approaching from Perimeter Road trying to go up S Boundry Rd (I believe)

Looking at the overhead view I would say that it is a dual carriageway going straight across a roundabout and continuing as a dual carriageway and Perimeter Road to me looks like a right turn off the roundabout
This would mean that the left lane of the dual carriageway coming from Coopers Lane is for straight ahead only (unless the signs or arrows say otherwise) and that the right lane of the dual carriageway is for straight ahead or for turning right into Perimeter Road

Absolutely this, I'm afraid. This would mean that the left lane of the dual carriageway coming from Coopers Lane is for straight ahead only (unless the signs or arrows say otherwise) and that the right lane of the dual carriageway is for straight ahead or for turning right into Perimeter Road
Confirmed by this road sign a bit further back from the roundabout:
Thanks jaguar response much appreciated.
What’s your opinion of image 2 with the road markings showing an allowed straight on?
It’s such a confusing roundabout with absolutely no road marking before or in the roundabout!

If you're lucky you might get 50/50 because the other car shouldn't have pulled onto the roundabout when unsafe to do so.
I think he would have be coming all the from Perimeter road around the round about and doing a 270degree loop so would have been on the road about a while I’m surprised he didn’t brake quick enough unless he was travelling quickly and couldn’t react fast enough antjo said:

Thanks Jaguar!
Any idea why all the road markings or chevrons indicating I can’t go straight on would have been blacked over and removed on the road as well?
I can’t see anything blacked out? Any idea why all the road markings or chevrons indicating I can’t go straight on would have been blacked over and removed on the road as well?
Were you indicating right btw? If the other car was on the roundabout already or had joined the roundabout from the right hand line from the same direction as you, they would expect you to go straight over especially if you weren’t indicating right

I would not attempt going right from the left lane.
Hope you're OK.
