Back for the first time since 2019...

The High Performance Course will be running another Young Drivers' Day on the Saturday 23 July 2022. The event is open to full licence holders who are aged 26 years or less, and who are not already graduates of the High Performance Course.

More details are available on the High Performance Course website.

It's been running for many years so you can also find information in previous threads (PH search on Young Drivers Day will work), or ask a question here and someone will be able to help. 2 common question / answers:
- if you've just outside the age criteria (i.e. late twenties) it may still be worth applying.
- if you read the website the full course (2.5 days etc.) is a different course - this is a more informal day which gives younger drivers an introduction to advanced driving with a focus on cornering and overtaking...

Location: The Holt Hotel, near Steeple Aston, Oxfordshire
Costs: The day costs just £38. HPC subsidises the event to keep the cost low. Catering is provided (tea and coffee throughout the day, bacon baps on arrival and sandwiches for lunch).

With this day only a few weeks away, worth noting that there are still some spaces on the day...
Age is the main limit, and it is aimed at those who are 26 or younger - however, if there are spaces and you are only slightly outside that criteria, it is probably worth making contact and seeing if there is some flexibility.

For those who haven't been on one before, it is a very cheap day for some very good advanced training.
It is a full 8 hour day with time split between inside 'classroom style' sessions run by Advanced Police Instructors and looking at 2 areas which are not often tackled in normal driving instruction - cornering and overtaking. They are two areas which getting wrong is the cause of many accidents, but getting it right can transform the enjoyment of driving a country road. To balance the indoor sessions there are 4 driving sessions - paired up with someone who has graduated from the High Performance Course, they will drive you in their car, and you then drive them in your car - pairing up with someone different morning and afternoon. This gives an opportunity to see a different style of driving, to ask questions, and to put some of what you hear into practice.

generally, those who have been on the day rate it very highly, so if you have not, then why not give it a try?! If you have any questions, do post them on here and I will happily try to answer them!

Looks interesting, although no times are given, which would be useful to plan a weekend. Oxford isn't a million miles away, and I'm certainly under 26. smile

Not a problem:
arrive by 9.00
intro session starts at 9.30

planned finish is wrap up session starting at 17.15 and close of play at 17.30

hope that helps!

Still a few spaces available on this (Saturday week)
Definitely worth signing up for if you have an interest in improving your driving, and want an enjoyable day...
