The driver ahead of me changed their mind about pulling into a garage. I could have anticipated this considering the fuel shortages, but I didn't. I'm not entirely sure who was at fault - at best I was driving with inadequate caution, and perhaps at worst I had no right of way to pass because they hadn't actually left the carriageway. I should certainly reacted much quicker as soon as it became clear they weren't driving directly into the garage forecourt. We didn't hit, but it must have been very close.

Potato-video

(the video is choppy at the beginning before settling down a bit. The quality is awful because it's a cheap dashcam and, errr, turns out I'd forgottetn to remove the protective film from the lens paperbag )

They didn't just look like they were going into the garage, they 90% did, so you can be forgiven for not thinking that they'd suddenly swing back out like that.

It would be on them to make sure it was safe to return to the main road, and on you to help prevent an accident just in case they didn't...

Just imagine how clear your dashcam will be without the lens protector on! biggrin

Awful piece of driving from the Merc!

They had all but left the carriageway then rejoined without looking, car behind you was caught out by it aswell.

With hindsight... Alittle less speed and little more anticipation as you said but I have to admit, I'd have performed the same maneuver you did, car had turned off the carriageway even if it hadnt cleared the carriageway quite completely, you passed them!

White Mercedes A class. The scourge of modern motoring. Almost always driven either very aggressively or with very little awareness of surroundings, but most often both.

The merc did pull aside. One could have in hindsight slowed but there was not much time either. Hind sight is wonderful thing. You had however no cause to stop. The driver of the merc had no right to rejoin the carriage way until it were clear.
