Unusual Road SIgn
Discussion
This was posted in another forum with the question: what is the meaning of the sign with a white diagonal cross on a blue background? No one seems to have an answer - any ideas?

I'm sure that they are indeed faded clearway signs but on my computer at least, the red has faded totally and is now a brilliant white. I can't recall seeing other signs that have faded to this extent. In the unlikely event that I was to be charged for stopping on this particular clearway, I would certainly take issue with the signage!
I know where that is. It’s approaching Lumbertubs Way in Northampton. It will be faded as Northants Highways, who still stubbornly exist despite the end of the County Council have deminimis attitude to road maintenance, except for having an obsession with surface dressing but I whingeingly digress!
A bit of faded signage? Try Highways England, in their infinite wisdom, signing the emergency access at Catthorpe with the flying motorbike (except authorised vehicles).

which raises an interesting question. If its so faded the red is now white it doesn't match the requirements for correct signage
Does that mean its now invalid?
That's one for SP&L however quite often the outcome of "but technically" cases around road signage and markings comes down to whether or not you can persuade a media outlet to take a picture of you doing your compo face whilst pointing at it. Does that mean its now invalid?
I'd also say that a surprising number of people don't realise what that sign means in correct colours...
