If i pretend I’m not looking you can’t hit me..
Discussion
Over the last few years I’ve noticed an increase in bizarre behaviour of people committing driving actions that if it were me performing, would result in a crash.
Examples would be driving across a busy roundabout without a care in the world, pulling out of junctions, crossing 4 way junctions etc all characterised by one consistent behaviour, which is looking straight ahead unflinchingly like a Vietnam vets 1000 yard stare pretending that they can’t see any oncoming traffic either direction and relying on all other road users to brake, swerve and emergency stop to allow them to continue.
Has anyone else noticed this one?

A few times mostly when people pull out infront of you on roundabouts. Not sure whether they are actually just focussed on the road infront or avoiding eye contact.
I know whenever I have slightly misjudged something you would see a grimace on my face but would normally be looking ahead trying to put a burst of speed on to get out of the way, rather than try and wave an apology.

An advanced driving coach once told me if as you approach a car at a T junction where you have priority, if the driver looks at you then looks away and does not look back, they have not seen you. This piece of knowledge saved me being involved in a serious collision a few years latter.
Noticed this more and more recently, it's almost like they believe they have right of way and if you hit them it is your fault. What is worse is if you sound your horn at them, they start to scream and shout at you as if you are the one who is in the wrong.
If they are turning left they will just pull slowly out of the side road with no effort to try and build up any speed before you get to them. If they are turning right they will just pull straight out into the road in front of you and stop half way across the road, more often than not they will be driving some sort of Audi SUV.
Last guy who did this to me I sounded my horn and he just looked at me, shrugged his shoulders and deliberately blocked me for even longer. I mean seriously, do they think they are the ones in the right?
I drive a shed, and when I see £50k worth of brand new Audi just pull out in front of me I get more and more tempted not to bother braking every time it happens......

Had a Royal Mail truck blast straight over a roundabout earlier causing me to have to stop hard. I passed him on the dual carriage way just after and he blasted the horn as I passed. I think he's the kingpin of people that you describe.
He's probably also the type that walks across your grass and keeps your mail :hehe"Gassing Station | Advanced Driving | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
