The IAM has recently updated its website and the forum is no longer available. Does anyone know if this is just a glitch or has it gone forever.

There is extensive debate about this on the ADHub forum.

It seems that the IAM official members' forum is now defunct and will not be resuscitated. A number of the previously active IAM Forum members are now posting about all things IAM on the newly created IAM section on ADHub.

We look forward to seeing you over there from time to time.

Well I'll definitely pop over to the ADhub (not sure if I know what that is 😬).

It was interesting reading the old forum, but there was plenty of criticism of those in charge. This seems to justify that criticism really. The members to few spoken to had no idea this was being removed, and feel that this shows exactly what those in charge really think of the members.

Ah well, it's the senior team that come out looking really silly and childish I suppose. Perhaps that's what happens when advanced driving becomes a paid job not a passion.

Found it and joined it smile . I used to be on the old ADUK in the good old days so it might be nice to catch up.

I remember meeting one of the senior IAM team at a meeting and I spoke to him about various things. He made it very clear what he thought about the forum, and his opinion of any member who disagreed or criticised him or the IAM.

I suppose I was rather naive but I never expected them to act so petulantly that they would disband the forum. I feel it says a lot about how they regard the membership in general. I wonder how much Rospa costs smile

How many members contributed or used it?
If it wasn't getting traffic the money may be better spent elsewhere.

Running a forum - especially if not being heavily used - costs next to nothing...
AD Hub is run on free software, I own the server anyway, so the cost to me is a domain renewal each year, for the IAM the cost would probably be very little indeed

I understand there is a lot of change with them updating their website, logos etc though.
If the current forum is not used by many they may consider the cost of integrating the old forum into the new web portal etc is not an effective use of the budget for them & set up a new different style of forum or message board. (I'm not aware of the technicalities or actual cost behind their changes, just surmising a potential reason).

The only reason that the forum is not being revived is that it was an irritant that the management was unable to cope with.frown

And if your right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

That could make sense, but in the scheme of things, unlikely... I suspect it is simply a desire to close down the forum!

A lot less than the IAM (£20-22/year IIRC) which includes your retest every 3 years, and £60 for your initial test (£50 if under 26). None of this "skill for life" rip off.

True the IAM's magazine is glossier and you can get insurance deals.

RoADAR's forum is lucky if it get's one post/month
