The High Performance Course will be running another Young Drivers Day on the Saturday, 30th of July, 2016. This is open to those who are aged 26 years or less and hold a full driver's licence, and who are not graduates of the High Performance Course. The aims of the day are to:
  • Promote awareness of driving skills at advanced levels
  • Encourage the participants to develop their own skills
  • Have fun
More details are available on the High Performance Course website.

Thanks for this. I think i'll be attending, would be nice to get some feedback from advanced drivers.

Clive Jones looks like he's about to drop the hottest mixtape of 2016.

Thanks for posting this - seems like pretty good value at £32 and can't do any harm so I think I will sign myself up..

Shame i'm a few years too old for this at 31.

Went to one a few years back and it was great!!

Anyone have any ideas if I'd be allowed to do it - I'm 26 now, but come July I'll be 27.....

I'd be really keen to do the course though!

Worth applying - not unknown, so you may get a yes - just fill in the form and put such details on the form...
I suspect that the age limit is to encourage a certain age group - you have to pick a certain age to have a limit, but am sure there is some flexibility - it might depend on how many apply, but give it a go!

Just in case there are any others on the cusp (or slightly over!) the age limit - worth an email to the organisers via their website - I've been permitted to take part smile

There is only one a year - however, I suspect she will get more out of it with a year or so of driving under her belt rather than being very new to driving (my opinion, not that of the organisers)

wavey...and got a drive with me, which may or may not have been what you were hoping for.

Great to see so many PH smilies in the car park yesterday, and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. If anyone would like to say a bit about how their day went it might help encourage even more PHers to attend next year.

Tony! Good to see you on here! Thanks again - had a great time on the roads in the morning with you smile

I was just logging on to find this thread to say the day really was fantastic, and thoroughly worth going to. My wife & I both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and are definitely looking into HPC membership now!

Even if not looking at membership, I'd encourage anyone who is keen to improve their driving skills - getting someone else to analyse your driving and offer great advice on reading the road and positioning the car to maintain pace was fascinating and very enlightening smile And to be able to chat cars and driving with people equally as geeky was refreshing too biggrin

I'd also like to echo what others have said and highly recommend this course. It was a big learning experience for me and I was seriously impressed with the quality of the driving of the two instructors I went out with. It's definitely worth doing if you want to learn how to drive at a good pace but safely - we weren't hanging around but I never once felt uncomfortable. Many thanks to all involved thumbup

Chris (black Lupo GTI which nearly got squashed by a coach at the end of the day hehe)

Chris

Glad to have the feedback smile One thing to stress - none of us (with perhaps the exception of Andy, Clive and Carol) are instructors. We're all folks who've achieved that standard of driving through a desire to improve - you're on that same path, and hopefully we'll see you at Club events sometime in the future.

I had a great time at the one last year and as a result I've since booked my place on the full course. If you haven't been already I thoroughly recommend putting a reminder in your calendar to keep an eye for the one next year.

... and here it is: http://www.high-performance-course.com/index.php?o...

It might need a new thread though because of the date in the title of this one.
