Three why oh why's to end the year........
1. With MOT regs & checks why are there so many cars still driving around with miss-aligned lights? In particular those off-side lights (on dip) which flood onto the opposite carriage way and dazzle oncoming traffic.
2. Driving/spot lamps on in built up areas (ie with street lights) and in the rain when they reflect off the wet road and increase glare for oncoming traffic. Why?
3. 4x4 headlights. These are positioned a lot higher than on a typical car and so seem to cause significantly more glare than "normal" car lights. Is this my imagination? Or are they just not set up correctly? If the latter then refer to 1. above.
Happy New Year

A comment about 4x4 headlights.
I took mine for its annual test and the tester adjusted the headlight alignment as they, he said were too low.
Unfortunately he set them at the downward angle for cars and not the alignment for vehicles with lights above 850mm from ground. Which as I've beentoo lazy to set them back means I drive about with the load adjustment wound down a bit. Mind you if I think sod it and leave it as he left it, the view for me is ace but selfish.

I thought this was going to be about the retards that either drive with just DRLs on or the other wktards that think that because their dash is illuminated then the lights must be on, although to be fair part of the blame should be with the manufacturers, they shouldn't sell cars to wktards!

See Op, if you want to do a rant do it properly. Always include a swear word or two combining each with "...tards" in true PH fashion. Not quite sure what any of this has to do with AD but; hey ho...each to their own!

Nissan Duke drivers with every light known to man lit on the front, 6 of them I think!
Yes, the Nissan Juke has these too, they help when opening up the hairdressing salon on dark early mornings I still haven't figured out what any of this has to do with advanced driving but not to worry!

Thanks for the compliment I do my best to uphold the PH way, strange thing is these words have only become available since I reached my one thousandth post, you live & learn something new every day.
You're welcome; I'm surprised no one's mentions silver cars with no lights in poor visibility yet! Saw loads yesterday and in was only a ten minute trip!7mike said:

First oxymoron of the year goes to ...... but I know what you mean. They are more of a problem for drivers with poor observational skills.scjgreen said:
What annoys me more than this is the swathes of people driving round with Blown Headlight Bulbs in the dead of Winter!
Indeed. I was lining up an overtake a few days ago, saw one headlight in the distance, the parallax was slow so it looked like a car with a blown bulb a long way a way. It got a bit closer and only then could I see it was a moped going at 30mph in a NSL. I keep a spare bulb in the car, and replace them as soon as they blow. I guess a lot of people don't even know how to change a bulb in their car, and aren't inclined to do it either.
It's a real hassle changing bulbs in some modern cars. My eldest stepson is a mechanic and some of the stories about wheels off, plastic wheelarch liners out, even front bumpers off to change bulbs make me realise that not all progress is good.
If there is very little chance of being pulled over and it costs one or two hours labour to change a bulb, then it's not surprising that more people are inclined to just leave it until the MOT is due.
On the other hand, I've said it before - there are an awful lot of numpties out there.

French cars are the worst. The Megane is PITA (wheel off) but the Citroen C4 is something else - http://c4owners.org/plugins/faq/faq.php?0.cat.2.13I to find people using fog lights with head lights out or on sides in the dark winter conditions. See alot of vehicles this year with lights out.
I have come accross (as i live in the country) a 4x4 running these 5400 lumen!

I had a guy in lanes who had wired it to his high beams so when he flashed me to thank me he blinded me for about 30 mins!
Seriously these things are dangerous if used with on coming traffic.
