I have heard this mentioned recently, it may not necessarily have been in AD circles though

"Fake space to Make Space to Take Space"

Does anyone know what context, when driving this applies to.

All i can think about in this meaning is that when you drive you position your vehicle to maximise your vision.

Any thoughts?

I remembered it as Take space to Fake space to Make space.

Approaching a restricted gap with oncoming traffic, position boldly to get oncomers either to tuck in tightly or to give way to you and wait.

Taught together with two other mantras by Peak Performance on a corporate defensive driving course (attended as part of Autocar Driver of the Year one year). The other two were:

Position for Vision so you can make a Decision

and

Slow until you Know, then you can Go.

All from memory.
