First Drive - York
Discussion
Got in touch with the local group by email a few weeks back. Got a quick and helpful response. Asked for a bit of reading material as I couldn't meet for a few weeks which I was kindly furnished with.
Finally got a free Sunday morning and went along. Nice range of cars from MX-5 to Merc. Friendly group of people, quite the stereotypical age group but that wouldn't put me off. Bar one lady I imagine I was the youngest there by 20 years.
As I was my first meeting we had a quick check round my car and of documents, fair enough. Got into the drive fairly quickly, out of town and onto the back roads, most of which I hadn't driven before. The observer picked me up on a few things, some I was aware of, some I wasn't. All very casual and pleasant. Had quite a good chat on the way as well at talking about the driving. Did keep telling me i could be quicker in the wet which was probably the case however after my my recent 'spin' at nurburgring I'm still a little hesitant. Once explained, wasn't an issue.
Arrived back at the meet point about two hours after we left. Got a little sheet at the end with some feedback on my drive. All 1's & 2's for anybody interested. Had a quick chat with the group and made my departure.
Good fun, good chance to get out in the car and just drive without actually going anywhere, good opportunity to find new roads, good to be around like minded people.
No doubt I'll be £140 lighter soon.

Just a question for the more knowledgeable out there.
When discussing the exterior od the car we talked about tyre valve dust caps, and their function.
My answer was to stop dust dirt and grime getting in and damaging the valve.
i was told that was correct but they also had a secondary function of sealing air in case the valve failed. I accepted it as the guy was 'advanced' but the mre I think about it, the more bizarre it seems.
Any truth to it? Are dust caps rated for 250lbs pressure?

I don't know about them being rated for 250 PSI, that sounds rather high to me; but I do believe they are intended to act as a secondary seal. When discussing the exterior of the car we talked about tyre valve dust caps, and their function.
