A security chauffeur course. scratchchin

The course is over 2 weeks and i will end up with a BTEC in advanced driving and a BTEC in security chauffeuring.

To say im excited is an understatement.

Some of the things the course involves
-Vehicle security search
-chauffeur protocol and etiquette
-skidding avoidance
-general security principles
-overtaking
-parking and waiting (sounds exciting, right?)
-route selection
-surveillance and counter surveillance
-high speed driving
-high speed handling
-skid control
-anti ambush drills
-rapid reverse
-reverse 180
-forward 180
-handbrake turn to contact
-ramming drills
-casulty extraction
-escort drills
-incident management

And finally, a big exam.

Anyone done anything similar?

The course is based in slough, any idea who will be running it? Surely there arent that many drivers qualified to teach to this level in this country?

That sounds really cool!

Is it intended to be useful to your career, or is it just for fun?

I seem to remember a program about nannies for wealthy clients who would be sent on a similar course because they were expected to transport the kids in their care.

Its not intended to be useful to my current career.
But there are intentions to move abroad to South Africa, Qatar or Dubai, where i imagine there is a great demand for this type of work.
cool

And id rather not be a nanny. laugh

What sort of high profile person you could become a Transporter for scratchchin...
Not many at my age (21).
I think i will need to start low and work my way up. Maybe an airport taximan first? Then work as a driver for a company, then for a private individual.
All the high paying stuff requires years of experience.

Did something very similar thirty years ago when I worked for a private security company, mainly anti-hijack anti- kidnap.
Just a diploma at the end, we used to take high profile middle eastern dignitaries wives shopping, boring, boring, boring.
Still leave an escape gap when sat in traffic even driving a truck.
You will learn it takes a hell of a lot to prevent an alert trained driver from evading naughty boys.
12 years of banger/stockcar racing also helps.

That's absolutely fabulous. Sounds like you'll have nothing but fun, and if you could pull off a job at the end of it.... Not many people end up doing what they love to pay the bills.
The best of luck and enjoy it!!

It went fine.
The second week was fantastic.
Spent Monday on Milbrook doing all sorts of bits. High speed braking, push pull around milbrooks town course to show how messy and uncomfortable a ride can get when you up the speed around town, as well as a blast on the alpine circuit.
Tuesday was at an airfield, doing pit manouveurs, j and y turns and ramming drills and was frankly some of the best fun ive ever had!
Wednesday was spent practicing 2 car drills in Milton Keynes, where two cars have to stay together (and yes, its not simply a matter of keeping up smile )
Thursday was spent doing a practical exam, 4 cars and pretend clients where we had to keep the cars together through london.
It was great fun!
