I drove this morning to pick up friends from Harwich - A12 and A120 - the truck drivers were the safest drivers on the roads by a long way.

Totally predictable - clearly using thier mirrors - including the non UK trucks - so our numpties in Essex are hitting the right targets?

Presumably they were all obeying the two second rule and making sure that after overtaking they didn't return to the left hand lane and cause those behind to have to slow down to maintain a safe distance. If they did they certainly weren't like the truck drivers I encounter on a daily basis.

Politicians are keen on giving us 'an informed choice' why don't they spend a few days in the cab of a truck so that they can make one themselves?

Because they have enough trouble getting photographed with women of low moral fibre, without getting photogaphed hanging out with men who kill women of low moral fibre.

Now, now.

write to them to tell them they're wrong, and why.

Might try getting my local member of the Lords to raise it - will try to check the cost.

Lorries overtaking obstruct flow, get over it. If getting to your destination 15 seconds earlier was so important why are the majority of lorries limited to 56mph?!

After spending most of the previous week on it, the M8 could really do with this...

That's interesting actually.. When everyone drives safely following the rules and regulations, no accidents ever happen

It is about time they ban overtaking by all lorries between 0600 and 2100. They may be safe but you can guarantee that if you suddenly come across a queue of traffic it will be one lorry overtaking another. It will ease the flow of traffic during working hours and prevent those nervous drivers from sitting in the outside lane.
