Despite trying to be a good driver occasionally I do things I question.

The other day I arrived at a roundabout that was partially blocked by cars queuing to get into a complex on the left hand exit. If to the right was clear I could have just squeezed around the last of the queuing cars to continue my journey onwards.

However giving way to my right saw perhaps 4 or 5 cars join the queue completing blocking the onward path 2 lanes deep. It quickly turned into a mess and become immediately frustrated with the stupidity.

I know I should always give way to people already on the roundabout. However I decided to just pull out as the traffic blocking my path in front and the traffic to the right was stationary now and with no clear path to move off. Cars were shuffling as the queue moved slowly. Essentially to continue my journey I metaphorically barged into the queue of traffic and I knew the person to my right wasn't happy and tried to squeeze me. He was travelling in the direction of the queue in the middle lane and the person in the 3rd lane, normally used for turning right had blocked my exit and was trying to filter into lane 2 to go straight on too, so completely in the wrong lane, all 3 lanes jostling to get position in the queue.

So as I jostled too, being squeezed I was annoyed at the idiot in the wrong lane blocking my path and gave a blast on the horn. No real reaction, movement or attempt to notice me and give way. Eventually they creeped forward enough to allow me to pass.

The stupidity of the entire thing meant a dual carriageway had backed up by people blocking the onward route. However, with the absence of those yellow no zone cross hatchings and the fact you should give way to cars on a roundabout, how should I have dealt with this.
