Ice Driving - which one to choose on a budget
Discussion
Have been looking at the various Ice Driving experiences and frankly how do you choose one over the other?
Budget does of course play a part as not everyone has €3000 to throw at it but from those who have been to Norway, Sweden or Finland, can you please send your recommendations and any comments on what not to do!
Ideally I'd be looking for a 2 day event with travel costs and the Driving on Ice must be the star attraction!!
Thanks,
Dave.

Dave,
I have distant memories of John Lyon - then HPC - having an annual trip to Sweden or Finland...I got an invite once but could not afford it.
Maybe some of John's former pupils who frequent this place can elaborate on the course?
Or - if you contact John Lyon directly I am sure he would offer expert advice...

The High Performance Club has an annual trip to Sweden for ice driving. It's much cheaper than other, commercially run ice driving trips. At least when I went, you had to be an HPC member to do it, because it was a Club event. One of the attractions of joining HPC is access to these type of events cheaply (once you've got over the initial cost of achieving HPC membership).
Don Palmer has sometimes offered essentially the same experience as the HPC trip on a commercial basis - worth checking whether he is offering that again. I have never heard of John Lyon organising such a trip - the HPC club trips have all been organised by a club member with good contacts in Scandinavia. I have been several times with HPC. The trips are tremendous, but restricted to club members, and certainly better described as a little less expensive rather than as cheap.
Look at Don's videos to see whether this appeals (more recent HPC trips have used BMW 3's on the ice).
