February this year I hired a 2012 plate Fiat 500...

Whilst driving home from Scun-thorpe back to Rochester at about 1am I reached the slip road for the A1-M25 junction.

As I entered the slip way the ancient people carrier in front appeared to be struggling with the incline. Just as I indicated to join the M25 from behind the people carrier at a hot 40-45mph, an Almera accelerated out past me and then travelled along side, whilst an old Mondeo rapidly approached from the rear... its at this point I dropped a cog and gunned it around the people carrier through the narrow gap and away as fast as its little 1.4 could accelerate... (I didn't break the 70mph NSL as they where only travelling at 45ish whilst apparently trying to box me in)

Was I being paranoid or did I avoid some insurance crooks targeting the shiney new Fiat I was driving? possibly thinking I was a girly girl in a silver style statement and therefore an easy target (I'm a 28year old male)

And what would you have done?

Neal

Why?

From my sisters (out skirts of Shorpe) I went down the A15 to Lincoln, drove around (not through) Lincoln, joined the A1, followed the A1 down to the M25 around to and across the Dartford crossing joined the A2 and went home to Rochester... which way would you have gone?

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you....

You mean you drove all that way on a convoluted route??? You must be crazy - did you not think for one minute to join Hooli on the new Grimsby to Rochester ferry service?

How exactly does the insurance scam work? They get you to crash into them so they claim and get money? But then they have a bashed up motor...

Umm, insurance pays for the motor and the whiplash. Are you 12?

Oh right, I've never heard of this scam, is it common?

Sadly yes, and it is at the moment getting to be quite common.

The insurance industry are trying to fight back, but of course they need our help.

I have been a victim of the other one, where a collision doesn't take place, but lots of witnesses say it has, and you've been in the area at the correct time.

That is why I now have a dashcam.

On those dashcams, do they save the video onto some sort of memory card? I wonder if I could buy one and use it for the intended security and also to film some of my road runs and play them back on my pc biggrin

Are you able to tell us the whole story? Sounds intriguing!
