Seems odd, considering how many professions have introduced continuing professional development. It speaks volumes about the DSA that a test is more important than training ...

DSA chief executive Rosemary Thew said: 'A mandatory scheme would incur enforcement costs for DSA, which would ultimately have to be recovered through ADI registration fees. In addition, the check test process already exists to ensure ADIs are maintaining their standards of instruction.

Registration fees £300 to renew an ADI licence & a further £120 for a Fleet licence (renewed four yearly). For that I get one hour of a senior examiner's time every four years. Not sure what they do with the rest of my money? Problem is, if they make it even more expensive then more will leave the register; then who's going to subsidise the DSA?
Pitty it's not being made mandatory though, there are loads who do bugger all but the same old same old! There again, they'd then start charging realistic prices for lessons & Joe public wouldn't like that.
