http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8oM56YNQVQ& <== I will change this link in a day or so once youtube stabalieses the video. Nevertheless, stabalisiation is not terribly important and this is well ready for your thoughts.

Please be brutal!

Roads were super empty, so would especially be interested in hearing feedback from 21 min - 23 min and the "despatching" of the silly 4x4

Edit - the above link is the non stabalised version, there is also a stabalised one that will be at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31jqEdDjygA

Both have their pros and cons, in that the stabalised one distorts the screen in a weird way... but at least it doesn't bump about.

I could not hear your commentary clearly so not sure why you felt the first opportunity was not on yet the second was. Distance on videos can be a bit deceptive due to lens angle, however I thought you perhaps ended up heading towards a crossroads directly followed by a bend a little quickly and too close to the overtake.

Without the rear view and seeing how large a gap you had opened on the 4x4 it is hard to tell if there would have been an issue had you needed to brake hard due to a vehicle pulling out of the junction.

That is also a "bone of contention" on the ADUK forum - I agree in hindsight it was a bit tight, but the vid makes it look tighter than it was... I was past the 4x4 by 22:11 at the absolute latest - I was just hanging out for visibility and for smoothness reasons.

Of course that decision, in itself, may have been foolish.

Which video is the one with all of the overtakes in?

What engine is in that car? One minute you're moving through a junction deciding what way to go, the next it's doing 80. It seems to pick up well and sounds nice.

It's not a criticism more an observation based on the video which is probably very different from doing the actual driving is that long straight at about 17 minutes in reminded me of the first lessons I had after driving for about 5 years before taking the IAM test was holding onto a lower gear and rolling on and off the accelerator rather than getting to the corner and then having to think about steering, braking and changing down. Holding the lower gear did seem a bit like making the engine rev more than was needed, and didn't sound nice but it seemed to make for a more flowing style. Perhaps that technique is more applicable for narrower roads and shorter straights. I also wondered how much was gained by using that amount of speed along that straight to then shed it under it braking. Did it gain much?

Thank you for the video, it's made me think about driving. The IoM looks lovely and like the far west of Cornwall and obviously bits of Ireland.
