sounds like fun.

try and include both town driving and some twisty road stuff though to keep it interesting!

and don't play music in the background. try and capture the sound of the engine if possible.

Does sound like fun, but to me half an hour would be too long to watch even without
background music. The engine noise sounds like a good idea as this lets you know what
the car is doing. Will the film include a commentary and how long will it be for. A good
mix of all road conditions/types would be interesting and be used to promote advanced
driving to those who have not tried it.

Look forward to it. At least some of the time it would be useful to know what you're doing with the foot pedals: gear changes, when and degree of braking/acceleration or deceleration etc.

I'd worry that you'll just get a load of conflicting advice - more heat than light. You might get some things to think about, but without actually being there at the time, its very hard to make the kind of fine judgments that driving decisions rely on.

Much better to get an opinion from someone in the car - there are various ways to arrange this.

OK, it will happen at some point. Dunno when exactly - probably gonna record it next Saturday, but we'll see smile

For bonus points, it will be recorded on the isle of man - two main differences from UK. First is that STOP signs are all over; I will probably obey them in the video when I wouldn't normally, cause they really are all over the place here where they would be give ways in the UK. And I ain't gonna post videos of me breaking the law on the biggest motoring site in the UK.

But more interestingly - there are loads of derestricted roads. Which means I can do some speeds I couldnt' do in the UK.

Anyway next time I bumpt this thread, I'll have the vid.

I want to see you manage Bray Hill at 150mph without losing it.

I've often thought about this but been a bit embarrassed to ask. Constructive criticism is always welcome.

Bear in mind that you'll end up justifying yourself a lot because the camera will only point in 1 direction (usually forwards!) and will have a relatively short "zoom" length compared to what you can see with your eyes and by moving your head.

I wasn't able to do this on Sunday, but I will certainly try to do it next Sunday.

I made some attempts today, but they all amusingly went wrong in one way or another. Should I bother posting them?

waste of time. You're going going to capture all the hazards and you're not going to cover your use of the controls at all.

Cheap Japanese watch.

That's twice I've come back and only excuses.

Just kidding. I like your idea, but I suspect that you will be on your best behaviour. I have a GPS tracker to log every journey and I'm thinking of upgrading to a dash-cam. If I do, I'll post an edited average journey for comments.

I do actually have some vids. The main problem is that I've been, er, improvising with keeping the bloody camera still in the car, and none of the solutions have worked. It's a Flip Ultra HD and I have... masking tape and blue tack.

I welcome suggestions. So far I have had it hanging from the comfort handle (wtf do you call this again?), the mirror, and stuck on the passenger side headrest. None have survived for long, and most of them have been pointing incorrectly.

I DO have some kind of cool footage of a view I could post...

My very first moronic vid (well, a one minute "highlight" should be up here in about twenty minutes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS18iWAq0QE

I will upload something from the other ones tomorrow cause I left my camera in the car (I put this one on my laptop yesterday). The view one is honestly brilliant. I haven't reviewed the others - I know they're pointed pretty craply, but if they HAVE worked enough that you can see in one of them, then there is a clip of me overtaking at 90mph towards a police van - perfectly legally. Which I think might be a nice vid just for that reason. And the view one is a good-ie too, and that's deifnitely fine.

And maybe on the weekend, I will hopefully have some time to work some proper arrangement out biggrin

But you can only like a video once, unless you have been putting the wrong usernames in. wink
