Normally my drives are so uneventful I wonder where all the stories come from, But on Friday, people (me included) were having a bad day !

These are in 1 minute clips, because that's what the dc1 gives me.

I am not a policeman, and I'm not interested in reporting anything unless harm was caused, which it wasn't.

  • ***
In this clip, a car full of young people turn right at an island from the nearside lane, I use this T junction island a lot, and quite often see people turn left from lane two, so the possibility of conflict here is quite high ;

  • ***
In this clip I make myself look bad, a doddery old git turns right on an island from lane one of three, but he doesn't cause me any problems, I've seen the motorway is busy, and I don't fancy seeing what he is going to do regarding joining, so I blat him on the sliproad ..... but it doesn't look pretty !

Then a fellow BMW driver leaves it a bit late to go for his desired exit

A van driver cannot wait at a red light !

  • ***
And this one concerned me, I'm at the speed limit here, as normal, and a car approaches quickly from behind, when he pulled out to overtake me I was a bit worried, I actually braked !

Thankfully I don't normally see (or take part in) that much muppertry in a month.

That last one was a bit scary! I'm not surprised you braked a little

Regards the slip road overtake. I think I'd have been tempted to also get past him ASAP. Following people like that onto the motorway at sedate speed makes me nervous!

My pet is getting stuck behind people (on a particular uphill sliproad) who sit in the middle of the road and creep up to around 40mph by the time they make it to the main carriageway, with a >15mph differential.

It's actually happening on the google streetview hehe

Well done on braking for the overtaker in the last clip - he was clearly putting you all into danger.

So far as the other clips were concerned, I don't think I would have found any of the others' driving noteworthy. None of the late lane changes were dangerous or uncomfortable for anyone, and I accept that it sometimes takes time for drivers to work out where they are going. The most questionable driving, as you bravely admit, was your own slip road overtake - how confident were you that the car you were overtaking would stick to a tight left line, on a slip road without central lane markings? Personally, I think the lane change should have been a reason to be more cautious about an overtake, rather than a reason to overtake. I would at least have considered a light warning before going past.

I think it shows that even Advanced Drivers make mistakes/questionable decisions (I know I certainly do)! Advance driving doesn't make you perfect, it just reduces the times when our built-in stupidity takes over wink
Imagine; too many people always drive stupid.

At least the overtake on the sliproad was done quickly, minimising the time when the cars were close together. Though I did clench a bit watching it, it felt pretty narrow without those centre line markings.

His braking midway around the roundabout was a pretty big alarm bell, at that point it's best to figure out how to be a long way away from that car, either by overtaking and getting a move on, or hanging right back (which isn't conducive to a good motorway merge).

I'm amazed by how high-quality the videos are, even compared to a few years ago.

And it is only advanced drivers (more or less) who know or are prepared to admit when they have done something questionable. I am the last one to throw stones at Nigel.

Please don't get me wrong, My intention wasn't to have a go at Nigel. I know he's respected round these parts (I certainly respect his opinion).
I'm just saying that it is good to discuss when each of us makes a 'cock up' as you correctly point out.

To reiterate, I wasn't throwing stones at Nigel and I respect him.

Please don't worry about critising me, I make as many mistakes as anyone else.

I messed up big time on that slip road ....... and I'm local, I absolutely should have known better, the whole honest truth is, and this is pathetic ....... I was so set on getting passed him I actually forgot there was only one lane !

And that is it.

I commited myself, on a road I am familiar with, and I got it wrong, only the fact I have a reasonable car helped me, I could reduce the danger time.

I included the clip on purpose, to show I can be as big a pillock as anyone else, I wouldn't have fancied my chances of explaining that to Elroy Blue or his mates.

The last clip is scary, I think I should have reacted a little earlier, I didn't believe he'd go for the overtake, and I was wrong again !

The others were just noticable, nothing else, the young chap in the escort was most likely to come to grief doing that there.

I'm surprised nobody has commented on the van driver.

Thanks for the comments anyway, and as you can see, I'm "supposed" to be a reasonable driver, but an in car camera can hang you lol

I forgot about the van by the time I'd stopped shaking from that last pillock. Some lights are annoying but I haven't ever felt the urge to just run through them that blatantly.

Running a dash cam is very brave as you can't rose-tint anything you do. One thing I did notice was that you were very smooth, the camera wasn't jerking at all.

I drive a BMW E39 528i SE auto (albeit an old one, it's a 2000)

As Vonhosen once said to me, BMWs can make really bad drivers look quite good !

As I said before, it was brave of you to include a clip which didn't necessarily show you in the best light. I am not sure many of us would have done that.

Big time? Overtake on a slip road wide enough for 2 cars?

What did I miss?
