A turning before a level crossing
Discussion
Hi All
Scenario: You have pulled up behind a car at a level crossing. The car in front has stopped just short of a left hand turn before the level crossing. You wish to go down this left hand turning before the crossing.
Do you wait until the car in front moves when the level crossing is clear?
Or do you pull out and take advantage of the fact that there is no oncoming traffic to stop you from using the opposite side of the road?

Depends on the potential danger of cars emerging from that junction with you overtaking and turning in.
If your visibility is such that you can see into the junction then passing to turn is OK, if not then it is safer to wait. probably worth a short toot of the horn (with a smile and cheery wave!) as well to make sure the car in front sees you passing and stays still.
