I always try to analyse my driving and if anything untoward happens think about what I could have done differently to avoid the situation. In my 20 years of driving, I've only ever been involved in one accident.

I was driving down a main road, doing maybe 20 - 25mph. There was a car waiting to pull out of a side road. As I passed it, the car lurched forward and hit my rear quarter panel. The driver was an old lady who's foot had slipped off the clutch.

Nobody was hurt, though the old lady was quite shaken up. The other car had a broken number plate and cracked bumper. My car was unfortunately written off, due to the location of the damage.

I often think about if I could have done anything to avoid the accident?

Don’t be too hard on yourself, where possible blame the other party - A scapegoat is good as a problem solved wink

I remember (a long time ago) whilst sliding backwards along the road on my roof, with my head touching the moving surface through the smashed sunroof - "I will never go that fast around a corner again" I have to learn the hard way on these things!

If I see an untrustworthy car looking to pull out of a junction I tend to move over to the right a bit incase that happens, but as stated theres not great deal u can do once alongside them.

Not much i can suggest. Had an elderly gentleman pull out in front of me whilst riding my bike. I had eye contact and he gave all the indications that he had seen me but still pulled out.

I don't think it was a hit, but it was at that point i decided to not ride bikes anymore.

You could put it down to random... but not much learning i am afraid

I had a similar incident - came round a corner and saw a car waiting to turn right out of a junction on my left. Woman in the car looked right at me, looked the other way and pulled out (I was about 2 car lengths away by this point). Since she'd looked at me I assumed she'd seen me, obviously she hadn't. I swerved over to the other side of the road, she spotted me and stopped and it was just a near miss. Still a somewhat scary moment.
