tom tom in the USA help

Hi i have a Mitac Mio 168 with Tom Tom 5 on, i know that it works in the usa but my question is: if the maps are seperate states what happens if you cross states to get to your destination?

I am going to new york on monday (Albany), and i am flying in to newark airport which is in new jersey, so will the TomTom new york map get me there or will it get confused in new jersey?
