The 910 has 12gb of free storage space for music etc. so if I was to buy the 910 and the tom tom FM transmitter (mount) I could have a bluetooth handsfree car kit (with external mic), a 12GB MP3 player and an excellent sat nav all in one.

All of these would play successfully and be crystal clear in stereo (where appropriate) through my car radio tuned into the Tom Tom transmitter. The phone/directions would cut out my music when needed.

Does anyone have any experience of this?? Does it all work as it says on the tin or is there a hum with the transmitter, poor sound etc.??

Comments appreciated - sounds like a nice integrated system if it works well!!

Hey, I've had experience with FM transmitters, and they are no good at all.
I bought the newest up to date one for my ipod when in the states, it was really bad.

Can't stress enough, if you want to use your mp3 player in your car, connect it directly to the head unit.

FM transmitters are a bit pants in my experience too. Ive got a Griffin Roadtrip and its certainly no better than adequate. Like a distant FM station and the range is so short you have to consider where you place it in relation to the aerial.

My 910 is hard wired to the stereo and I do get an engine speed related whine if its plugged into the car power... cleaner on battery power.

The mp3 management isnt that great either.

sounds like a 510 and a seperate hardwired ipod would be a better solution, I'd save a few quid too....

I'm guessing with your hardwired 910 you have cables all over the place?

Wiring isnt too bad.

I have mine on the bottom right of the w/s and the cables all run down the A pillar and under the dash.
