Not after anything super duper, I normally read road signs and take a map before I go somewhere new, but any kind of sat nav will do at this kind of price *with* speed cam detection too.

So, my main question is does this give you your speed AND the speed limit constantly, or does it only alert you to the limit when it might get you into trouble?

Is there a way to make it go say yellow if your speeding but no cameras, green when not speeding and no cameras, and red with camera speeding or not? That way you can simply note the colour of the display or portion of it to know if your safe or not if you spot a mobile unit or whatever, or can quickly find the speed for that road on a display rather than scouting for the nearest sign.

I went to Halfrauds, the sales person was an "expert" but couldn't tell me much about how it actually worked day to day, and mainly just said "it stops you speeding"...

It shows your speed constantly and the road speed limit only when you are in a black spot area, or an area where there is some type of fixed speed camera.

As for the last bit - I have no idea but I'm happy with mine....

Cheers for the reply.

I guess knowing the current limit is obvious if you have your eyes open, it'd just be nice to have that give it too, as a secondary confirmation.

I like the idea of an alert ladder, green = safe, yellow = camera but your going slow enough, or your going too fast but no camera, and then red when your going too quick and a camera is there or something

Still a bargain though, dedicated GPS and speed detector for the price of a RA compact (pretty much)

It does warn you where there are fixed cameras or likely known spots for mobile ones.

In those cases it shows the speed limit and warns you if you are over it. It shows this in red if you are purely in speed camera mode. The symbols are smaller in sat nav mode but the warnings and bleeps are there nevertheless.

It is transferrable between cars, so if you know someone with one ask if you could test ride it.
