Hi, question for all of those who have the above unit....How good is the speed camera detection part of the unit? Ive got a RA plus at the mo which i think is brilliant for what its supposed to do, looking at getting a sat nav but want to have as good a speed cam detecter as the RA plus. any info grately appreciated!
Its only as good as the software that you have to update off the web at regular intervals. There is no real time detection at all, It only knows the G.P.S. point where one is, was, or is now which is often the case. I`m not slagging them off, there a cracking piece of kit although you still have to be on your toes as some of the recently installed Gatso`s are not included in the downloads .
I ran one all the way from Bristol to Naples having installed the pocket GPS world European camera database.
It needs some setting up (by default the unit chimes and displays the church logo whenever you're at a camera site)
Once you've done the set up though it appears faultless. It correctly located all the camera gantries on the M25 and several sites in Europe as well.
The only (important) point to note is that as mentioned earlier, there is no real time detection on Tom Tom, this means that you have no protection from the man with his laser / radar gun.
If you can live with this, then Tom Tom is good enough - it's certainly the route I'm going down once I've sold my Origin B2 and got a Nokia N73
