There is usually an area on the screen that isn't covered...

EDIT - quick call has revealed;

1) Put the antenna near the rear view mirror
2) Put the antenna at the bottom right hand corner of the non-moving drivers door window
3) Try a re-radiating antenna, or additional one...

On my 182, the clear part of the screen is in the middle at the bottom. Even putting the reciever there I still get an iffey signal.

just a quick update..tried Podies suggestion of sticking the receiver by the window which i forgot that on a megane it can sit quite nicely on the ledge, even can shove some of the cable under the surround to hold in place and i had 3-4/5 bars the whole journey home :-)

Your probably have one of those Renault solar resistance windscreens (has a slight green tint to it- normally), i had this problem with my snooper with very low and poor GPS signal, but moving it to the rear windscreen if not too inconvienent, is probably the best option, although saying that i have never had any problems with my sat nav (tom tom 710) place on the windscreen.

Yes i know, however i find that a wire hanging up the centre of the windscreen distracting, plus i did not have the correct fitting bracket for my snoppers GPS reciever (comes with the one for the snopper and some sticky felt for the reciever- i was never going to stick it to the windscreen), my sat nav (tom tom 710) works fine placed on the windscreen but the snopper did not, so i put it on the parcel shelf and problem solved.
