Road Angel Navigator
Discussion
as a camera dector it's very good, but as a sat nav it's pretty average, not very easy to use and slow menus. It will pick up fixed cameras and mobile sites (NOT mobile cameras themselves, as many people seem to think.) The 6000 does UK mapping, the 7000 does European and is waterproof. Not sure about the third one though
I got a Navigator 6000 a month or so ago and have had no problems with it.
Some say its sat nav is not so good, but its fine for me and seems to work well. It has tried to take me routes that wouldnt have been my first choice, but if you know a better route just take it and the unit will recalculate for you. Having said that, this is something all sat navs can do and I have heard mates with tomtoms, garmins etc etc say exactly the same thing about their ones.
The TomTom ones are a good price at the moment in the sales, and you can get a camera database for them, but as far as I know the differences include that on the tomtoms the camera locations are not directional - ie it will alert you even if you are on the side of the road that is not covered by the camera.
Also I do not think it tells you the speed limit you are in? Could be wrong about that though. The Navigator only warns you if the camera covers your side, tells you the limit and whether you are above or below that limit.
Having said that, the unit can be a mite slow and I can understand some saying the UI is a bit 'clunky', but neither is so bad that it makes it unusuable.
For the money IMO it does what I want it to well.
If you have any more questions about it, let me know
PS - you get 6 months free updates with the Navigator - additional months are £3.99
ETA - the Navigator seems to come with only maps for Eng, Scot, Wales and NI - not for Republic of Ireland whereas the tomtom I believe does so you may / may not care about that.
Also, tomtom seems to have more Euro countries available to purchase as extras if you drive on the continent a lot

As well as including Europe pre-loaded, the Road Angel 7000 apparently also uses a faster processor.
The Road Angel Navigator at the higher price point is basically the older model - the 6000 and 7000 will be better.
I think you will find the speed camera warnings from any of the leading brands of satnav quite reasonable - Tomtom, Garmin, Navman - and in most cases they cost less than £50 pa to keep up to date and the satnav interfaces have a better reputation than the Road Angel one. Personally, also, I would choose a unit with a larger screen which rules out Road Angel.
