It's time to upgrade my mobile phone and to be honest I'm happy with the handset I have (Motorola V3) however, I can get one of the new O2 XDA Orbit pda/phone thingys which has a built in GPS device. I'm thinking of getting one and adding the Tom Tom Navigator 6 software which is relatively cheap, has anyone any experience with either the pda/phone or with TT Nav 6 in particular, also is the TT Nav 6 software as good as the software on the TT 510, TT 710 and TT 910.

Any thoughts would be marvellous.

Cheers,

Andy.

Ive heard that the tt is much better than the co-pilot that comes with.
Theres quite a few sites that explain how to use the tt 6 on pda.

but this forum should help as well

I have an SPV M600 with TomTom Navigator 6 on it. The retail version is £60ish without the GPS puck and with the Western Europe map which is very good value. The software itself is excellent and you can get the subscription services with it which give you the traffic alerts as well. I find it quick to re-route and the directions are clear and pretty good even though our estate isn't on it yet and has been there for 3 years.

I have been using tom tom Navigator six on a Mitac Mio 168 PDA, and it is excellent. The only problem I have is the 168 doesn't have blue tooth, and therefore can't subscribe to the real time traffic updates.

Same here - much happier with TT6 compared to TT5

Works very well - no problems at all

Same here and very impressed with it too, especially the European maps, which even have the Canary Islands on them now.

If only my e-mail didn't stop syncing every time I used it, as PocketPC seems to go a bit awry after Bluetooth is enabled But that's Microsoft rather than TomTom's problem.

Tomtom 6 is so much quicker to load, tt5 used to take about 1 min to load but tt6 takes about 10 sec at most.

IIRC the O2 Orbit is the same as HTC P3300 which can be bought with TT6 loaded. I have an imate JAmin which is basically the HTC predecessor to the Orbit, and I've run TT5 and now TT6 on it with no problems. Processor speed and RAm can occasionally make the scrolling a bit jerky in 3D mode, but other than that, no problems.

I've upgraded to TT6 Europe map with new TT6 software so I now have TT5 and 6. The maps are not interchangeable. E-mail me and we'll haggle about what you want.

I have TT5 and TT6. They both run very well on my XDAIIi but only running TT6 at the mo. My PDA might be a bit dated now but it's still more powerful than a lot of the new ones out and has a nice large screen. I have put the whole western europe map and everything else, including the navigator folder with all the schemes, voices etc...onto my 4GB SD card. I have voice warnings of all speed cameras, and all the xtra celeb/comic voices for route telling. I run a wireless BT321 GPS Receiver with an RFMD chip and it's capable of scanning 32 satellites, and works really well indoors too. Cracking piece of kit.

Gary,

Firstly sorry for the late reply. I didn't get an Orbit in the end as I don't really need a pda but it was the integrated gps that interested me as I would have used it for sat nav. However the wife went out and bought a Tom Tom One V2 Europe as she uses the sat nav mostly and she didn't want to use an Orbit with TT6, god knows why but that's her perogative.

I do know of people using TT6 on the orbit and they are very pleased with it, hope you're as pleased as they are.

Andy.
