TomTom map upgrade for Ireland

Do any of you know if the v6.6 map for Republic of Ireland offered on the TomTom site is the up to date one with 100% coverage?

I want to download the new ones but I'm not sure if this is it or not.

I have a GO-700 and it is a newer map than the one that is on it, but I don't know how much detail it's got.

Have any of you got it yet?

If so, what's it like?

Good question - my TomTom 700 doesn't have Kinsale on it so if the new one does then that will be a step in the right direction.

Anyone recently bought a TomTom and can test this out? I think the latest x10 models have these maps.

I got my reply from TomTom support.

This is what they said ..............



Thank you for your question regarding TomTom Maps of Ireland. TomTom is always investigating the possibility of adding new countries. TomTom will do so when the digital map data is of a satisfactory quality. At this moment there is very little road data. TomTom only wants to supply its customers with the highest quality possible. We will release the product for Ireland when Tele Atlas has enough coverage, e.g. 96%. Currently we have some map data of Ireland. This is including some areas of Cork, Dublin, and Galway along with the major roads data.

When we decide to include the Republic of Ireland we will announce this on the web site. May we ask you to please keep an eye on our website in the months to come?

Any future map updates might be based on a fee according to your software license agreement.

I'm trying to get Ireland maps for my Road Angel Navigaor and can't get it anywhere at the moment it seems - does anyone know if I could 'borrow' the TomTom data and stick it on my mem card for my unit?
Havent a clue if it will work, but worth an ask to see if anyone else knows

Mine uses a hard drive so I'm not able to offer help but if you can get them it's worth a try.

They probably have something in the software to stop you using them on other brands, though.
