I got a new 710 for Xmas and cant work out if its charging correctly. Has anybody any ideas?

In the manual it says that it will charge on the home and car doc and it should say 'charging' under the battery meter. When I connect my device to either dock I get nothinhg and the battery meter is solid green with a yellow outline ie appears empty to me. When connected to the PC the display on the computer shows the word charging and a slow moving grey bar but then it disapears. Ive already taken one back as I thought it was faulty. I think it was because it ran out of juice even though it was connected to the doc for a couple of hours. Surely the second cant have the same fault.

Any advice would be appreciated. Am I missing something? Anybody experiencing the same thing?

My 710 does not charge when docked on the pc dock. Connected to the mains the green charging light comes on and stays on. The unit charges up but the light stays green however long you leave it (unlike most devices light out when fully charged). So I tend to charge it on the mains for a couple of hours and it appears fully charged. Used it like this for the last 4 months with no problems.

Thanks for the reply. The green light on the top comes on when its docked but the manual refers to this as the antenae light ratehr than a charging light.

It has not let me down yet so I pressume it is charging, however the previous one I had ran out of juice even though it had been sitting on the dock for a couple of hours. I've emailed TOMTOM so I will let you know what they say

Then yes it dose, it has both a USB and a 12 volt connection, just make sure the mains/12 volt connection is plugged in

Yeah if the green light is on then it's all good.

A warning comes up should you have low batt (in the form of a little batt symbol only half colored).
