Has anyone else experienced this problem? My Dad's TT1 stopped making any type of noise earlier this year. He took it back to Argos (still under gaurantee) and they swapped it for another. Now mine is exhibiting the same problem. I'm returning it to Halfords tommorow.

Just wandered if it was a common problem or if we hve just been unlucky.

Have you tried a reset using the button underneath?

Yep tried the reset button. I'm also going to go back to factory settings to see if that helps. If not it's going back to Halfords.

Have you tried turning the volume up/on?
The other thing to do is if you got tom tom home is to restore it from a r=previous backup.
Are you using the voices that come with it?
And have you done the update (If you plug it into the pc with tomtom home on it it will tell you if it needs one.)

I tried the reset button and the return to factory settings but it still wouldn't talk to me. I took it back to Halfords expecting all sorts of hassle, but imagine my surprise when Halfords man said "No problem we'll just give you a new one". Since they don't make the old Tom Tom 1 anymore I was told to choose what I wanted up to the same value. I plumped for a new Tom Tom 1 Europe with a couple of accessories.

So can't fault Halfords customer service but bollox to Tom Tom for changing the mounting features and power lead so that none of my old bits and pieces are compatible.
