Anybody thinking of getting one of the new TomTom One Regionals, don't !
I replaced my original TomTom One with the newer Regional version only to find the new TomTom, despite having a later version of the map data, has many road names missing, including my own. The roads are there but are given the same name as a road next to them, not much good when you are trying to find an address !. After much emailing and telephone calls to TomTom ( they needed a lot of convincing ) they are as surprised as I was. They can now confirm that the new TomTom One Regional does in fact have far less road name detail than the original TomTom One. They will be in contact with their map supplier TeleAtlas to see what has gone wrong but they do not think there will be a solution in the short or even medium term. They have however checked the TomTom One Europe which has its map data supplied by Navtech and this does indeed have all the roads correctly named. They have advised me to return my TomTom One Regional to my supplier, and if I want one that works to get the TomTom One Europe.

Thanks for the tip. I'll boycott any manufacturer using telewest data for my Xmas purchase!

I also live in a road which has been 'assigned' the name of an adjacent road. I'm so sick of lost delivery drivers calling to ask if I live in the 'other' road that it's less confusing if I just say yes, and allow their sat nav to bring them to me. Unlike you, I couldn't get Tomtom interested in the problem. They just shovelled me off to Teleatlas who passed the buck to Ordnance Survey. The OS data was correct.

In my view it's a cheapskate way to cut back on device memory, which will satisfy 95% of users 95% of the time. End users of the data such as tomtom will be the ones pressing their suppliers for this. For once I support regulation.

Now that is a worry.

I was thinking of buying this new Tom Tom One V2 - is that the model you describe, or is it different?

Yes, TomTom One V2 regional doesn't work, but One V2 Europe does

thats because Tom Tom one uses Teleatlas, whereas the Europe one uses the superior Navtec system (as do all the others in their range)

I got TomTom1 v1 with GB & western europe mapping, and that uses Tele Atlas maps.

What is the difference with regional over the GB one?
