Hi, can anyone help. Just had my tom tom 910 nicked by some scum.
It was a good unit but are there any better ones out there now of a similar spec. The pioneer S1 looks nice and also the Nuvi's. does anyone have any experience of these other two. I like ones with plenty of gadgets/facilities etc. Also, we drive around canada/Usa at least once a year - hence i bought the 910. Do any otheres have USA 7 Canada maps on??

Well, I finally decided not to try to attempt to change my car head unit to one with embedded navigation - and instead opted for a Garmin nüvi 360. It cost £323 at Currys Birmingham airport shop - including the TMC receiver which was included in the box.
Dead easy to use and it took about 10 minutes to learn most of the features - it comes with street-level Eurpoean mapping which cna be upgraded by connecting the nüvi 360 to an internet PC and following the prompts. I've already updated the software to the latest version - painless!
The major plus point is that it is a convenient size (roughly 4" x 3" x 1" in its case), so is easy to carry about in a jacket pocket.
Only disappointment is that Garmin don't seem to make a cable which can be wired direct to a 12v source in the car - the cigarette lighter plug has to be used as it incorporates a 12v to 5 v voltage dropper. I would like a more 'permanent' installed look in my car, so will be getting the 'automotive mount' for the top of the dashboard. If you use the TMC receiver, external power has to be used which leads to rather a lot of black spaghetti.
