I worked out that near my house I wasn't picking up a signal.

I thought it was broken.

Does anyone know somewhere to get an antenna for a StreetPilot I3 that doesn't cost £70.

Ideally I want one with suction pads, not a magnetic one.

That's something I keep meaning to look for myself, as I get the occasional reception glitch in some cars.

It's an MCX connector, but I can't find any definite suction mounted ones.

£24.95 - not sure...
£19.95 - 5m magnetic
below £10 on eBay - all 3m and magnetic

If you do find one please shout

I had my eye on this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Garmin-remote-A

I think I might get it and see what its like.

It has an mcx connector, so should be ok.

That should do the trick, the MCX connector is a right-angle one, which will actually work better for the i3, as like the power connector is will lead the cable down the side of the unit, rather than away from it.

Would be interested to hear how you go with it, seeing the sub £10 ones on eBay makes me thing of just getting one of those and wedging it in somewhere on the car I intended have it in, in which case the additional £10 for a unit with a sucker mount seems a bit much!

Think I'm going to get my secretary to pop out at lunchtime tomorrow to get one of these, for £10 I can't go wrong.
