Road Angel Navigator - are problems rare?
Discussion
Hi all - I've just had my original style Navigator suffer its 5th software crash in just over 18 months, necessitating another chip being sent to me. Also I'm on my second handset - the original failed as well. Obviously I am concerned at the lack of stability of this system, but Road Angel tell me my problems are 'very rare' the inference seems to be that it's my fault! Are there any other PHers that have had software or handset problems with their Navigator units - if yes I'd really like to hear from you as I might be getting into a 'dispute' as they won't refund my money - only keep sending out replacement parts. Thanks Tony

You're very unlikely to get your money back. Those who paid £600 for their units would love their money back so that they can purchase a new one for £250!
What are the sympoms of a software crash? i have had the odd error message but turning off and on again has always resolved the issue.
The latest problem is a total loss of on screen map - just a blank page with the speedo reading. Before that you couldn't imput a postcode, before that the whole thing wouldn't turn on, before that the software was telling me to turn the wrong way at junctions (currrent one still does on certain roads actually) and the handset screen would not accept touch commands accurately, and then there was the 'usual' screen freezing etc. In fairness to Road Angel they have always replaced either the software or the handset- but I don't want to be doing this every couple of months. (and Yes, muggings here did pay the £600 when they first came out)
You would stuggle to get money back from any retailer/manufacturer after 18 months to be fair I couldn't get anything done to an LCD TV that I had for 1 month over it's warranty. Only problem with electronics is you never know when something's going to go wrong. Hope it gets sorted for you, unfortunately I don't have the old navigator just the new one which hasn't had any problems as yet.
