I'm new to Sat Nav systems but a recent trip to the South of France prompted the purchase of a Sat Nav system.

I ended up buying the Mio c710 with full western europe street maps preloaded.

Wow! What a great piece of kit.

Seemed to be about £200 cheaper than it's closest rival, but in many ways far superior.

It has:

Full western Europe maps
UK full postcode search
Speed camera database - updatable online
Bluetooth integration with 'phone
Photo player
Address book
TMC built in
MP3 player
etc. etc.

All this for £330 delivered, in a neat, small package.

Tim

does it lock onto the sats inside - i.e. does it have the latest set of chips?

Thanks

Miles

OK - for a follow up, does it
a) take acount of the direction of the speed camera (i.e. to ignore the ones on the other side of the road)?
b) only alarm if you are going over the speed limit when you go past one?
c) take acount of the speed you are approaching the camera at to vary the amount of warning/
d) show the nearest petrol station rather than having to search for one by name (as is implied by the web site)?
e) allow you to set waypoints, i.e. do some form of route planning rather than having to blindly follow the voice!?
f) feed the voice (prompts and tel calls) through the car speakers or are you limited to the unit's speaker
g) deal with sun light very well

Is the TMC antena which is included form a dangling wire or is it built into the unit?

Many thanks in advance

Miles

I've just been looking at this ( www.mio-tech.be/products/personal%5Fnavigation%5Fdevices/c710/ ) and I reckon that if the camera bit works then it's a worthy competitor to the RA Navigator and Snooper Indago.

I've asked some questions from the Euro distributor so be interesting to get their response.

Any input from anyone who has one would be great.
