Laser detectors
Discussion
Hi, new to forum and just bought a new car and am trying to keep my licence. Car hasn't got Sat Nav so was initially looking for an all in one unit like the Snooper Indago. Looks good but does it detect mobile speed traps? Is this the best type to get or should i get a specific speed detector (which one?) and forget about Sat Nav?
Any help appreciated!

The Road Traffic act that is currently bumbling it's way through parliament is set to ban both laser and radar detecting devices, so the device manufactures are sticking to just GPS for their latest devices (Snooper Indago and Raod Angel Navigator) so won't know about mobile traps, unless they are in a well known location which is on the camera database. However, I beleive both those units can take an input from an external laser detector unit, but I could well be wrong on that score. I used a Road Angel 2 for about 18 months, but it never detected any lasers in 12k+ miles of driving, whether that is sheer luck or something else I don't know...
Your other option is to stick to a cheaper SatNav unit such as a TomTom or many of the Garmin units, as both allow the use of camera databases from PocketGPSWorld, which work out cheaper than those of the camera detector companies and in my experience are just as good.
