Hi,

I have a PDA with built in GPS and I'm guessing with the right software it should be easy to record lap times, corner speeds, track maps etc from track days?

I cannot find anything, so any ideas?

NOTE: obviously the lap times are for analysis after the day and not during.

Cheers

Stew

A few of us looked into doing this a while back and I even started knocking up some software to both log and then plot result (in fact I was inspired to buy a Garmin GPS V by a recorded track layout of the Nurburgring!), however the one second granularity of GPS data means you really don't get much detail and spend so much time joining the dots the data is not worth while.

The posh hardware available to do this, such as the Racelogic VBOX use specialist high resolution GPS that reports back hundreds of times a second or accelerometers in order to reduce signal intervals.

Thanks, I guessed I was going to have to spend some more money on proper kit!

Tell us what you go for - I keep looking at getting a VBOX, but so far haven't been able to justify it to myself!
